> In the year wushen, the eighth year of Chunyou, Chan Master Xiaoweng of Mount Yuwang in Ming Prefecture entered quiescence on the twenty-seventh day of the third month, at the worldly age of seventy-two and with fifty-two summers of monastic age. The master's taboo name was Miaokan; he was born into the Mao clan of Cixi in Ming Prefecture. In the third year of Qingyuan under Ningzong, he received full ordination. He practiced under Chan Master Songyuan Yue at Jingde Lingyin Monastery, and next called upon Chan Master Wuyong Quan at Tiantong, where he grasped the essential purport. Wuyong's taboo name was Jingquan, born into the Weng clan of Yue Prefecture; he was a dharma heir of Chan Master Dahui Gao of Mount Jing. Kan assumed the abbacy at Miaosheng in Ming Prefecture, succeeding Master Quan; next he was transferred to Jinwen, moved to Guangxiao, and was transferred to Bao'en in Tai, Huqiu in Pingjiang, and Xuefeng in Fuzhou. By imperial edict, he presided over Jingde Lingyin Chan Monastery in Lin'an Prefecture. He opened up the land used for butchering and selling wine to the left of the monastery to make it a monastery precinct, erecting a gate named Feilai Peak. He also built three stupas north of the mountain for the cremation and interment of the bones of monks and practitioners, all of which were approved by memorial. King Wei Shi constructed Daci Monastery in Ming Prefecture, inviting the master to inaugurate the mountain and preach the Dharma as the first generation \[abbot\]. When the King passed away, he resigned and took charge of Ruiyan in Taizhou, moved to Jiangxin in Wenzhou, was edicted to reside at Jingci, and was further edicted to reside at Tiantong. An imperial decree then ordered him to take charge of Yuwang. Down to the spring of this year wushen, he was again summoned by edict to move to Jingci, but did not go; he then entered quiescence (Stele Inscription of Deeds).
