> The Dazhidu lun says: 'Anciently, the Solar Dynasty king named Siṃhahanu (Lion-jaw) had four sons, the eldest named Jingfan (Śuddhodana).' The Dīrghāgama and the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya are both identical \[to this\]. Yet the Mahīśāsaka \[Vinaya\] alone says that Śuddhodana was the son of Shixiuluo; perhaps there was an omission in textual transmission. If one resolves doubts by following the majority, one should regard the Āgamas and other sūtras as correct.
