> Shi Huiyi was a native of Guangling. He took pravrajyā at an early age and accompanied his master to reside in Shouchun. During the Xiaojian era of the Song, he went out to the capital and rested at Zhulin Temple. Diligent and ascetic, he vowed to burn his body. Among the multitudes who heard of this, some condemned it while others praised it. In the fourth year of the Daming era, he began to give up grains, feeding only on hemp and wheat. By the sixth year, he gave up wheat and the like as well, consuming only clarified butter and oil. After a while, he also ceased the butter and oil, ingesting solely incense pills. Although his four great elements were weak and frail, his spirit and consciousness were alert and proper. Emperor Xiaowu deeply revered and marveled at him, sending solicitous inquiries and dispatching Grand Preceptor Yigong, Prince of Jiangxia, to visit the temple to dissuade \[Hui\]yi. \[Hui\]yi's vowed intention remained unswerving.
