The Dharma Master was conversant in both inner and outer learning, was skilled in lecturing on the sūtras and vinaya, and authored a commentary on the \*Nirvāṇa-sūtra\* in ten fascicles, as well as commentaries on the \*Brahmā Net Precepts\* and other works, all of which served as models for the world. He also authored these \*Biographies of Eminent Monks\* in thirteen fascicles. At the end of the Liang, in the second year of Chengsheng, the year \*guiyou\* (553), escaping the turmoil of Hou Jing, he came to Pencheng and gave lectures for a short time. In the second month of the year \*jiaxu\* (554), he passed away at the age of fifty-eight. Huigong, the saṃghapradhāna of Jiangzhou, attended to the burial, and he was laid to rest at the cemetery of Chang'e Temple on Mount Lu.
