> Faya's demeanor was unconstrained, and he was skilled at the crucial mechanisms \[of teaching\]. He expounded non-Buddhist texts and Buddhist scriptures alternately. Whenever he, Dao'an, and Fatai opened and analyzed points of doubt, they fully brought out the essentials of the scriptures together. Later he founded a monastery in Gaoyi with over a hundred monks, instructing and guiding them without weariness. Faya's disciple Tanxi followed and expounded the teachings of his former master, and was skilled in debate. It is said that he was revered by Shi Xuan, Crown Prince of the illegitimate Zhao dynasty.
