高僧傳 5.26

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.26](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2059.5.26)

> Fatai's disciples Tanyi and Tan'er were both thoroughly versed in the meanings of the scriptures and were also skilled in the \*Laozi\* and the \*Yijing\*; their refined tastes and pursuits were on a par with Huiyuan. Tan'er died young, and Fatai wept for him bitterly, saying: "Heaven has destroyed my Yan Hui!" The commentaries and treatises composed by Fatai, together with his letters to Xi Chao discussing the doctrine of "Fundamental Non-Being," all circulate in the world. Some say that Fatai was a disciple of Master Dao'an, but that is incorrect.
