高僧傳 6.18

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [6.18](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2059.6.18)

初，經流江東，多有未備，禪法無聞，律藏殘闕。遠慨其道缺，乃令弟子法淨、法領等，遠尋眾經，踰越沙雪、曠歲方反，皆獲梵本，得以傳譯。

> Earlier, when scriptures circulated east of the Yangtze, many were incomplete; methods of dhyāna were unheard of, and the Vinayapiṭaka was fragmented and deficient. Huiyuan lamented these deficiencies in the Way, and so ordered his disciples Fajing, Faling, and others to search far and wide for scriptures. Crossing sands and snow, they returned only after many years, having acquired Sanskrit texts so that they could be translated and transmitted.
