> Shi Zhilin was a man of Gaochang; when he first left home, he became a disciple of Master Liang. From youth he venerated reason and loved learning, carrying his book-satchel to Chang'an and shaking his monk's staff across the Jiang and Yu regions, gathering broadly from various texts and being particularly skilled in the \*Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya-śāstra\*. When Master Liang was exiled, twelve disciples all followed him beyond the mountain ridges. Lin then rested his feet in Panyu, purifying and transforming the coastal regions.
