> Xuanzong summoned the occult master Luo Gongyuan to compete in arts with Amoghavajra, together in an informal hall. From time to time, Amoghavajra turned his hand to scratch his back. Luo said: "May I borrow your Reverence's ruyi scepter?" At that time there was a variegated stone on the hall; Amoghavajra swung the ruyi and shattered it before him. Luo tried again and again to take the ruyi but could not get it. The emperor wanted to rise and take it. Amoghavajra said: "Sanlang, do not rise; this is merely a reflection." He then raised his hand to show Luo: the ruyi was once again intact in his hand.
