- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.19](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2061.2.19)

> Another account says that Śubhakarasiṃha once lodged in the room of Vinaya Master Daoxuan at Ximing Temple, displaying a coarse demeanor so that Daoxuan rather disdained him. In the middle of the night, Daoxuan felt a louse and threw it to the ground. Śubhakarasiṃha repeatedly cried out: "The Vinaya Master has killed a child of the Buddha!" Only then did Daoxuan realize he was a great bodhisattva, and at daybreak, he straightened his robes and paid homage to him. If one examines this account, from Daoxuan's death to the middle of the Kaiyuan era was barely fifty years; yet as Śubhakarasiṃha's appearances and disappearances were without fixed pattern, they were not something ordinary humans could fathom.
