> Soon his capable work was accomplished, and displaying illness, he passed away at Huiri Temple in Chang'an on the eleventh day of the third month of the third year of Xianqing, at the age of seventy-two. In the first month of the following year, his spirit seat was returned to the region of Yi, and on the eighth day of the second month he was interred beside the stone scriptures at Guanghua Temple in Pengmen. Monastics and laypeople attending the funeral numbered in the thousands. Disciples such as Xuanning carried on his lineage. During the Longshuo era, Li Yan, Grand Master of the Household Bureau of the Palace Secretariat, composed an inscription for his stele, and Ouyang Tong wrote the calligraphy.
