> The appraisal says: The Great Potter casts all things, and the kinds of things are manifold and tangled; one who exhausts the calculations and penetrates changes, taking forms as they shift and alter, calls it transformation, calls it illusion. Only when one understands that illusion and transformation are not different from living beings does one begin to fathom illusion and transformation. I and you are both illusions. If examined from the standpoint of reality, then illusions and transformations are perhaps void; if placed in the standpoint of the void, then illusions and transformations are at times real. Reality and voidness are equal in principle; do they not depend on our own precedence and succession? When one embodies the Way without mind, things and self are equalised. Therefore the Buddha said, 'Whatever marks are seen are solely the seen mind.' He also said, 'If one sees that all marks are non-marks, one sees the Tathāgata.' Master \[Dao\]shu possessed this.
