> Emperor Wen of the Western Wei, personal name Baoju, sat at the four crossroads to protect the children, and drove the three carts to point out the path to awakening; he tied the gem in the garment onto the ordinary ranks, and revealed clear water in the well on the high plateau. He extensively erected monasteries, deeply upheld the pure precepts, entered the room of the Tathāgata, and showed special care for the solitary and the elderly. He constantly recited the Lotus Sūtra, making it his constant practice.
