> The household of Gao Shoujie had been faithful believers for generations. A daughter of that household suffered from a goiter; she was taught to recite the Lotus Sūtra, and the goiter disease disappeared of itself. Later, the daughter left home to become a nun. Seeing a person with leprosy, she taught him to recite the Lotus, and before long the illness vanished. Furthermore, seeing a mute person, she recited the sūtra for him to hear, and he departed with joy; later, he was able to hear \[and speak\]. Moreover, seeing a person with malaria, upon hearing the sound of the recited sūtra, the ailment was immediately dispelled. Her sincerity and sympathetic resonance were like this. Her subsequent affairs are not known.
