> Dhyāna Master Daxing was a native of Qizhou. He entered Mount Tai, wore grass garments, ate from trees, and sought the Lotus Samādhi. Moved by this, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva manifested his body and taught the master to practice buddhamanasikāra on Amitābha Buddha. After three seven-day periods, when the night was near its midpoint, he suddenly saw lapis lazuli ground, and his mind’s eye clearly saw the Buddhas of the ten directions. Later he fell ill, rested on his right side, and died. After the burial, a miraculous fragrance lingered from the inner and outer coffins for several days without dispersing. His appearance was just as when alive, not differing at all.
