> Daobing of the Jin was a native of Yingchuan. In his youth he took Master Yuan as his teacher, mastering the sūtras and vinaya; his speech corresponded with his actions. He investigated the mind without interruption in the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi. In the fourteenth year of the Yixi era, Wang Qian, the Governor of Yuzhang, entered the mountain to pay homage and invited him to succeed to Master Yuan's seat; the assembly all revered and followed him. In the twelfth year of the Yuanjia era, he gathered the assembly for buddhamanasikāra and passed away seated in his place.
