> Lu Jun of the Song dynasty was a native of Qiantang. In his youth he served in government offices, but after a long time he abandoned it, taking the Pure Land as his vocation. Whenever he repented before the Buddha, tears would stream down his face. When meeting with spiritual friends, if they spoke of Pure Land causes and conditions, after barely ten-odd sentences he would sob with deep emotion. Approaching the end, he invited Vinaya Master Yuanjing to explain the Western Direction. Reciting the Contemplation Sūtra up to the highest grade, Jing said, 'You may now depart.' Jun said, 'The holy assembly is not yet complete; let us wait a little.' Soon he suddenly arose, approached a bamboo bed, faced west, sat upright, and passed away.
