> In the Song dynasty, Lady Shen was a person of Cixi. From childhood she ate vegetarian food and practiced buddhamanasikāra. After marrying into the Zhang family, her one-pointed mind did not alter; she gave away grain and lent quilts to relieve hunger and cold. Later, experiencing a minor illness, she applied herself to buddhamanasikāra with even greater vigor. Suddenly, she saw the Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and the sacred assembly of devas appear universally before her eyes, along with a thousand points of lamplight, strung together like a rainbow bridge. That very day, she passed away in the auspicious posture.
