> Li Bing of the Song was a palace official during the Shaoxing reign era, directing the Imperial Pharmacy. Initially he studied Chan under Master Hui of Jingci Temple and attained an awakening. In his later years, upon reading Longshu's Pure Land Text, he thereupon practiced a daily recitation of the Buddha's name. Together with several tens of individuals, including Court Gentleman Yuanmei and Palace Attendant Lin Shiwen, he formed a Pure Assembly at Chuanfa Temple. Suddenly falling ill, he dreamed that Amitābha Buddha placed a golden halo upon his head. Seven days later, he also saw golden flowers filling the room; thereupon he gave his parting instructions to his relatives, sat upright, formed a mudrā, and passed away.
