汾州石樓和尚。師上堂。有僧出問曰。未識本來生乞師方便指。曰石樓無耳朵。僧曰。某甲自知非。師曰。老僧還有過。僧曰。和尚過在什麼處。曰過在汝非處。僧禮拜。師乃打之。師問僧。發足何處。僧云漢國。師云。漢國天子還重佛法麼。僧云。苦哉苦哉。賴遇問著某甲。問著別人則禍生。師云。作什麼𡁠。僧云。人尚不見有何佛法可重。師云。闍梨受戒來多少夏。僧云。三十夏。師云。大好不見有人。便打之。

> The Master ascended the hall. A monk came forward and asked, saying, “Not yet knowing one's original birth, I beg the master for expedient guidance.”
