> Upādhyāya Linquan of Shaozhou (who previously resided at Mount Yan). A monk asked, 'What is dust?' The master said, 'Unawares, it forms hills and mountains.' The master visited Great Master Ciguang of Baiyun and took his leave. Baiyun escorted him to the gate, and supporting the master down the steps, said, 'Gently, do not stumble.' The master said, 'If I suddenly stumble, what then?' Baiyun said, 'Then there is no need to support you either.' The master laughed loudly and withdrew.
