> Master Kuangyi Dingjue of Ziling in Fengxiang Prefecture. The Master arrived at Panlong and saw a monk asking Panlong: "The jade-green pool is clear as a mirror; where may the coiled dragon dwell?" Long said, "Sinking sand shows no bottom; floating waves are steep and jagged enough." The Master did not approve and answered for himself: "The vajra turns and penetrates beyond the blue sky; / How could the jade disc's working be understood within the pool?" Panlong approved of him. After the Master took up residence, a monk asked, "Before making a human body, what did one do?"
> The Master said, "Step by step, the stone ox walks through the water; / Looking back, it ceases nibbling the grass in the midday sun."
