> Upādhyāya Wen of Baiyun in Shaozhou. The master ascended the hall and remained silent for a long time. A monk came forward and said, "The single path of Baiyun is entirely due to today." The master said, "Not so, not so." The monk said, "How is it with the Upādhyāya?" The master said, "Along the single path of Baiyun, the grass is ten feet deep." He asked, "The student intends to present a question; I wonder if the master will answer it?" The master said, "Hanging from the crown of the honey locust tree, the wind blows and the tune is not completed." He asked, "Having received offerings from the dānapati, with what will you repay them?" The master said, "Becoming an ox, becoming a horse."
