He was interred in the main hall. After nearly twenty years, the grave was submerged by a mountain spring. His disciples opened the stūpa and saw that his whole body was floating on the water. Hearing of this, the King of Min dispatched an envoy to carry it to the courtyard of his residence for veneration. Suddenly, a foul odour spread far and wide. The King burned incense and prayed, saying: "We may relocate to the former site at Guiyang and build a stūpa." As soon as he finished speaking, an extraordinary fragrance wafted everywhere, and the entire city turned out to pay homage. The provincial circuit memorialized \[the court\] to bestow the posthumous title Master Zhenji ('True Serenity'), and the stūpa was named Lingjue ('Spiritual Awakening'). Later, during the purge of the clergy, his disciple Huizhong ended his days as a layman. He was buried two hundred paces to the east of the stūpa, and it was called the Eastern Stūpa. Today, the gentry and commoners rely on these two true bodies at Guiyang as their sanctuary, like the legacy and influence left behind by Sangha.
