> Chan Master Diyan of Renshou on Mount Ehu in Xinzhou. A monk asked, 'What is the realm of Ehu?' The Master said, 'A pool of lake water runs emerald as spring arrives; several immortal geese return from beyond the sky.' The monk asked, 'What is the person within the realm?' The Master said, 'Pines whisper where the guest sits; mountain green touches the person's robe.' He then said, 'Many mouths all come to raise questions, / But answering a single point before the void is difficult. / Now the great meaning is proclaimed again: / Raise your eyebrows and look face to face.' He stood for a long time.
