> Chan Master Guan of Zishou in Shouzhou. A monk asked, "The court ministers have come to the banquet and request the master's instructional discourse." The master said, "Emerald bamboo sways in the wind; cold pines melt into the moon." The monk asked, "What about before the King of Awesome Sound?" The master said, "The hornless iron ox sleeps at Shaoshi; the child-bearing stone woman grows old at Huangmei." The monk said, "Thirty years from now, these words will be widely celebrated." The master said, "Beware of citing them wrongly!" Ascending the hall, after a long silence, he said: "Even if you disperse right now like this, it is already entangling creepers. If I were to chatter on, what benefit would there be?" Striking the meditation bed with his whisk, he stepped down from his seat.
