### [20.28](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2077.20.28)

> Chan Master Kesong of Jingtu in Wuzhou was about to pass away and had a verse: 'The numinous tree has no roots; / The Northern Dipper has a handle. / The billows of the great ocean / Are my lifespan. / Eight feet or sixteen feet— / Who is ordinary, who is sacred? / If you ask about where I go: / In spring executing autumn’s commands. / Take care, all you worthy ones: / Make the physical form upright and the exterior correct.' Having finished speaking, he sat cross-legged and passed away.
