> Upāsaka Longtu Wang Xiao, styled Guanfu, had an awakening upon hearing the sound of the wake-up board while staying at Zhaojue. He asked Nantang: "I have a certain insight, but as soon as someone questions me, I cannot open my mouth. I do not know where my fault lies." Nantang said: "The fault lies in having an insight." Nantang then asked: "On what date did your official pennant arrive to take office?" The gentleman said: "On the fourth day of the eighth month last year." Nantang said: "When did you leave the office on your inspection tour?" The gentleman said: "On the twentieth of last month." Nantang said: "Why did you say you could not open your mouth?" The gentleman thereupon had an accordant awakening.
