- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.62](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2078.3.62)

> Vasubandhu bowed and received the command. Upon his seat, the Mahāsattva then hung head-downward from the branch of an elephant-pāla tree, and suddenly passed away. The assembly wished to set him upright to perform his cremation; though a hundred thousand people lifted together, they could not move him at all. Even when all the arhats combined their spiritual powers to lift him, they still could not move him. The great assembly then burned incense and prayed, whereupon his body collapsed of its own accord. After the cremation was finished, they gathered the relics, and the assembly erected a stūpa to make offerings to them. That time corresponded to the era of Emperor Xiaoming of the Later Han.
