> About six li southwest of the city is Mount Gayā. Its valleys are dark and mysterious, and the world calls it a sacred mountain; from ancient times, monarchs have climbed it to offer sacrifices and proclaim their accomplishments. On its summit is a stone stūpa more than a hundred feet high, which emits wonderful rays from time to time. Here the Buddha preached the Ratnamegha Sūtra and other discourses.
