> During the reign of Emperor Shenzong, Zhang Cha, courtesy name Yinzhi, was a native of Chengdu. From childhood, he stood out from the crowd with extraordinary natural talent. In his leisure hours from civil examination studies, he was versed in the subtleties of the Book of Changes and wrote a commentary on the Taixuan jing up to the ninth fascicle. Suddenly, during a daytime nap, he dreamed of Yang Ziyun, who said, 'The Taixuan is like a stūpa with thirteen tiers; you have commented up to nine fascicles—how could the secret mechanism be so easily divulged?' Upon waking, Cha wondered at it and found it extraordinary. Later, he lightly commented up to the tenth fascicle and submitted it to the throne.
