> The guest objected: 'The spirit takes corporeal form as its illumination; the corporeal form relies on spirit for its function. This is indeed so. Awakening is due to delusion, yet delusion does not reside in the spirit. The spirit follows this corporeal form, and therefore there are worthiness and foolishness. Worthiness and foolishness are not the spirit, yet the spirit is used by corporeal form. Circling through the three times for countless tens of thousands of kalpas, worthiness and foolishness have no beginning, yet efficacy becomes manifest midway. The principle of beginninglessness is profound, yet the efficacy midway is not yet mature. Is there an efficacy existing in the branches that can uproot the beginning of beginninglessness? If you have an excellent explanation, I ask to follow behind you.'
