弘明集 6.25

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [6.25](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2102.6.25)

> The treatise says: Below, they abandon wife and children; above, they discard the ancestral sacrifices. Objects of desires and cravings are all indulged through ritual, yet the canons of filial piety and respect are solely curtailed by the \[Buddhist\] law. They contravene virtue and violate natural order, without ever realizing it. It also says: Preserving one's bodily form and maintaining the ancestral sacrifices is the teaching of continuing the good; marring one's appearance and abandoning one's family name is the discipline of severing evil. What is to be valued in principle is the Dao; what is contemptible in affairs is worldly custom.
