弘明集 8.59

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [8.59](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2102.8.59)

> The explanation says: A person who has left home honors the teacher and reveres the Dharma, abandoning the secular to follow the Dao; how can they be judged by a single standard? Furthermore, when the Crown Prince took up study, his father the King paid him reverence; the founder of the Han praised words of auspicious counsel and treated the Grand Emperor as his subject; Gaogui of the Wei paid reverence to the Prince of Qi in private quarters; and the Heir Apparent of the Jin treated his own father as a subject in the public court. Citing these examples to judge the matter, there can be no doubt.
