廣弘明集 10.43

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [10.43](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2103.10.43)

奏曰。古人當言而懼。發言而憂。是以古有不言之君。世傳忘功之士。所以息言表知。非為不適。

> He memorialized: "The ancients felt trepidation when they had to speak and were anxious when giving voice to words. For this reason, in antiquity there were sovereigns who did not speak, and the world has handed down the memory of scholars who forgot achievement. Thus, halting speech expresses understanding; it is not out of feeling unsuited."
