- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [11.37](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2103.11.37)

> \[Fu\] Yi said: 'The barbarians of the Western Regions were born out of foul mud, so they readily occupy themselves with mud and brick. Even today they are hairy and rank, with human faces and beasts' hearts—owl-like men of the path, with the four colors of donkeys and mules, an evil breed of greed and rebellion. The Buddha was born in the western regions; this is not the orthodox custom of the Central Kingdom, but rather the perverse qi of specters and goblins.'
