So it was with the Empress as well. Floating one of them in water inside a silver bowl, he brought it out to show to the civil and military officials. In an instant, two were suddenly seen adhering to each other, rotating to the right. The two imperial consorts, as well as Zhao, King of Jin, and Jian, King of Yuzhang, were bestowed clams; an edict ordered them to inspect them carefully, and each obtained one relic from inside a clam. Before two decades of days had passed, nineteen relics in all were obtained in the palace, most of which emitted bright light. From then on, both monastics and laity from near and far brought and presented whatever relics they possessed. The Emperor said, 'Why must they all be genuine?' The monks tested them together; sure enough, there were thirteen jade grains.
