### [27.24](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2103.27.24)

> The Dhyāna Master is a dragon and elephant of the Buddha-Dharma; the pearl of his precepts is round and pure, and the water of his concentration is clear and still. From tranquility he gives rise to wisdom, securely possessing unhindered eloquence. Placing others first and himself second, modesty has become his standard; his renown is heard from afar, known to all. Therefore, your disciple turned his sincere devotion from a distance and sent oars afar to welcome you. I was always worried that conditions might go awry and encounter delays and difficulties. But now that you have arrived, the pathways of my mind are opened wide; as clouds and mist part, my defilements dissolve away. On this \[year, month, day\], at the golden fortress of Yangzhou, having established a gathering of a thousand monks, I reverently receive the bodhisattva precepts. The precepts are named filial piety, and also named restraint. Using the wisdom of expedient means, returning to the lineage and venerating the ultimate, they create great adornment; identical to the Tathāgata's compassion, extending the love of all Buddhas, viewing the four forms of birth equally as if a single child—and so forth. Having received the precepts, the master then gave an initiatory Dharma-name, naming the Emperor the 'Dhāraṇī Bodhisattva'. The Emperor received it atop his head, and then stated: 'The Great Master's meditation and wisdom are fused within, and he guides through the moisture of the Dharma. He may be reverently named "the Wise One" (Zhizhe).' This accords with the Liang Emperor Wu conferring the auspicious title upon Dharma Master Yue.
