> The Mahāyāna is the bodhimaṇḍa of the Tathāgata. Therefore, pratyekabuddhas and śrāvakas are called the Hīnayāna. When there is no non-existence to facilitate, then this vehicle is small; when there is an existence of existence to make it penetrate, then this vehicle is great. As for that which unifies the assembly of blessings and boons, none surpasses the dharmakāya; as for that which proclaims the knowledge of everything, none is more venerable than the Tathāgata. Therefore, the spirit is endowed with numinous illumination to observe the expedient means of the three penetrations; thought encompasses the deep and subtle to enter the gate of the four retentions. Knowing the emptiness of form, it gives free rein to it without decay; arising and ceasing have no limit, and ending and beginning have no boundary. Lodging within the cosmos, the mind yet encompasses what is outside the two forms (Heaven and Earth). The eye inspects the minuteness of a mustard seed, while consciousness mirrors the vastness of Sumeru. How exquisite and profound! Its source truly cannot be measured. Lament and praise being insufficient, I thereupon composed this rhapsody, which says:
