> The Crown Prince sits in the soaring belvedere; / Beside the city walls lies the Great Forest. / Though the royal gates open in all eight directions, / The dew-catching stūpa rises a thousand fathoms high. / Tiered brackets extend beyond the Milky Way; / Layered corbels thrust through the heart of the clouds. / Carved of moist jade from Mount Kunlun, / Polished with shining gold from the River Li. / The suspended basin resembles the dew-receiving palm; / The inserted phoenix looks like a living bird. / As the moon sets, the west eaves grow dark; / As the sun departs, it encroaches east of the pillars. / Countering the mundane currents, sagacious kin unfold the teaching; / Holding the brush, they stir the divine mind. / I hope to entrust myself to friends on this sturdy boat, / And forever escape the depths of the river of passion.
