> Furthermore, during the Xiaojian era of the Song dynasty, there was Shi Puming. Having renounced household life at a young age, his disposition was pure and simple; eating vegetarian food, wearing coarse cloth, and taking repentance and recitation as his practice, he recited the \*Lotus Sūtra\* and the \*Vimalakīrti Sūtra\*. Whenever he chanted and recited, he had separate robes and a separate seat, never allowing any impurity or contamination. Whenever he reached the ‘Encouragement \[of Samantabhadra\]’ chapter, he would invariably see Samantabhadra riding an elephant standing before him. When reciting the \*Vimalakīrti Sūtra\*, he would also hear the sound of music being performed in the sky.
