> In the fourth year of the Daming era of the Song, Empress Dowager Lu constructed \[an image of\] Samantabhadra riding an elephant at Zhongxing Temple and on that account convened a lecture assembly. Suddenly an extraordinary monk appeared whose bearing and demeanor were remarkably refined. The whole hall marveled at him. After conversing with others for more than a hundred words, he abruptly vanished. Earlier, a monk had risen, approached, and asked him, 'May I inquire from where the Venerable has come?' He replied, 'I come from Tian'an.' 'May I inquire what your name is?' He replied, 'My name is Huiming.'
