辯正論 6.56

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [6.56](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2110.6.56)

外論曰。夫東西二方。自有陰陽之別。左右兩位。便成仁義之殊。仁惟長善陽又通生。義主裁成陰論肅殺。二氣為教則陰不如陽。五德為言則仁深義淺。此方位之殊三也。

> The non-Buddhist treatise says: Between the two directions of east and west, there is naturally the distinction of yin and yang; between the two positions of left and right, there arises the difference of benevolence and righteousness. Benevolence merely nurtures goodness, and yang moreover promotes life; righteousness governs regulation, and yin pertains to austere killing. When the two qi constitute the teachings, yin is not equal to yang; when speaking in terms of the five virtues, benevolence is deep and righteousness is shallow. This is the third difference in direction and position.
