- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.145](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2118.2.145)

> As in: 'Close-meshed nets do not enter the deep pools, and axes enter the mountain forests according to season' (Mencius: shu is pronounced cu; gu is net; wu is pronounced wu. Shu means close-meshed; gu means net. In ancient times, nets had to have meshes of four inches; fish not reaching a foot in length could not be sold in markets; only after grasses and trees shed their leaves were axes allowed to enter mountain forests).
