折疑論 3.166

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.166](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2118.3.166)

豈刑法之不峻。而道德之不備者哉（結上文。皐陶呂刑之法。豈不險峻堯舜周孔。豈無道德而尚不能責盜濫化兇頑。教子弟俱為賢孝之行也）。

> Was it that the penal laws were not severe, or that their morality and virtue were incomplete? (Concluding the above text: Were the laws of Gaoyao and the Penal Code of Lü not stern and harsh? Were Yao, Shun, the Duke of Zhou, and Confucius without morality and virtue? Yet they still could not hold accountable thieves and profligates, transform the ferocious and obstinate, or teach their own sons and brothers all to act with worthiness and filial piety.)
