> In the country of Pāṭaliputra, there was a brāhmaṇa named Agnidatta who was thoroughly versed in the sūtras and treatises. After taking a wife, she soon became pregnant. While pregnant, she had a great desire to debate. The husband questioned a physiognomist. The physiognomist replied: 'The child in the womb is adept at debate.' When the months and days were fulfilled, she gave birth to a boy. He mastered all the sūtras and treatises, became a teacher of brāhmaṇas, and also instructed people in the medical arts.
