> On Mount Shining in the Jin lived Zhu Fayi, a monk of the Xingning era of the Jin. He was thoroughly versed in numerous scriptures and was especially skilled in the \*Lotus Sūtra\*; his disciples usually numbered more than a hundred. In the second year of Xian'an, he suddenly suffered from an ailment of heart-qi. He constantly kept Avalokiteśvara in his thoughts. He then dreamed of a person who opened his abdomen and washed his intestines; upon waking, his illness was cured. Fu Liang often said: "My late father associated with Master Yi without estrangement; whenever he spoke of the divine anomalies of Avalokiteśvara, both great and small were reverent and solemn."
