### [18.30](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2122.18.30)

> During the Tang, Shi Daoji, in the early Zhenguan era, resided at Fucheng Temple in Yizhou and recited the entire Nirvāṇa Sūtra by memory. Clean robes and bathing were his constant rule, and compassion and universal succour were firmly rooted deep in his mind. He died in the fifth month; though the weather was sweltering and hot, his corpse did not rot or stink. For more than a hundred days, he remained sitting cross-legged as before. Clergy and laity all rejoiced and praised him. (One source names him Daoze.)
