The locals said, 'This is an ominous bird with an inauspicious cry. If a household encounters this bird, someone will undoubtedly be killed.' Hearing this, Liu Bi grew fearful, and thought to cultivate merit to avert the calamity, but did not know which blessing was superior. In a night dream, a monk universally praised the Diamond Prajñā Sūtra and instructed him to read and recite it a hundred times. Following the instruction, he immediately read it; when he reached a full hundred times, a great wind suddenly arrived from the northeast, uprooted the bird's tree, hurled it far over the house into an alley. The pit left by the uprooting was fifteen chi wide and long. Afterwards, looking in the direction from which the wind had come, the small branches and tall grasses had all bent flat with the wind, and when the wind ceased, they stood upright again as before.
