> Furthermore, the \*Mahātejas-dhāraṇī-sūtra\* says: "The Buddha told Ānanda: 'Suppose there is a great mound of sand, and one uses a single drop of water to moisten this sand mound—can it penetrate completely through? Like a single woman receiving the karmic retribution of lust with a thousand men, she cannot be satisfied. A woman has three things of which she never tires: first, adorning herself; second, receiving the pleasures of lust with men; third, plaintive and sweet speech. Ānanda, a woman has five nests of worms, whereas a man has none of these. These five worms dwell within the vaginal canal. In each nest of worms there are eight thousand worms, with mouths at both ends, all sharp as the points of needles. Those worms constantly torment that woman, gnawing upon her and causing her to move and act; having moved, she acts again. Because they make her move, it is called torment. This is an exclusive characteristic of lustful women: through karmic retribution, they give rise to lustful conduct, craving men without knowing satisfaction. If such a woman sees a man, she immediately speaks sweet words, looking at him and gazing intently; having looked, she looks again, looking up and observing, contemplating matters of desire. She looks sideways with a slanted glance, wishing to capture his face; her teeth bite her lower lip, and her complexion turns bluish-purple. Because of the lustful mind, sweat flows upon her forehead. If she is seated, she does not wish to stand; if she stands, she does not wish to sit. She scratches the ground with a twig, or shakes and gestures with both hands. Or she walks three steps, and at the fourth step looks to the left and right. Or at the doorposts she stretches and sighs, swaying and writhing. With her left hand she lifts her robe, and with her right hand slaps her thigh. Moreover, she scratches her teeth with her fingernails, picks her teeth with a blade of grass, and scratches the back of her head with her hand. She bares her shins, kisses the mouths of other people's children, stumbles while walking on level ground, and casts darting glances in all directions. By signs such as these, know that a woman's lustful desires have arisen. Loathe and cast them aside; do not let them cause you to transmigrate and be born into great darkness.'"
